Author Interview/Giveaway Unlovable: Sherry Gammon

Hey everyone! Most of you know I recently read and reviews a book called Unlovable. If you missed it, you can view it here and today we have a very special interview  with the author.....Please welcome Sherry Gammon!

Q: Hi Sherry!  Thank you for joining us today. Please tell us a little bit about yourself?
A: I'm a cheesy romantic… which, if you have read my novel, comes as NO surprise to anyone;} I LOVE a happy ending. So much so that whenever I want to read a Nichols Sparks novel, I have my daughter check the last chapter to make sure the couple in it lives 'happily ever after.' If they don't, I will NOT read it.

I'm a 'Jack of all Trades, Master of None.' I can do a lot of different things, but I'm not phenomenal at any one thing. I am hoping, before I die, to find that one thing I can do really well, but as of now, it seems to elude me. There are people, who, out of the clear blue sky, decide to do something and, WHAM! they are great at it… you know what I mean? That's so not me! Example: JK Rowling. Wow. What I wouldn't give to be able to write, and create, like her.
<
Q: What inspired you to write your first book?
A:  I used to write poetry as a young girl. I went through a rough patch, as many of us do, and I found my escape in writing poetry.I wrote my first novel (A Harry Potter Novel) after JK Rowling started killing off characters in book five of her famous series. It was over 500 pages and it was how I  wanted Harry Potter to end. After that, I was hooked!
<
Q: Why do you feel you had to tell this story?
A:I have written about five books, but I never felt quite right about them. I was in the middle of a book about Shape Shifters and Changelings when my mind started to wonder to Maggie and Seth. I stopped the other story and quickly wrote an outline for UNLOVABLE. It flowed like melted butter, from start to finish, and I couldn't stop writing until I'd completed it.
<
Q: How did you come up with your main characters Maggie & Seth?
A:
Well, as I mentioned, I was writing a fantasy novel when I came up with UNLOVABLE, so Seth was easy…He is the Perfect guy…that in itself is a fantasy;}} Maggie was a compilation of two girls I grew up with. Sometimes life is not pretty.
<
Q: What was your favourite chapter to write and why?
A: Probably the chapter near the end with Maggie when her mom is in the hospital. I wanted it to be real and to have an emotional punch. I cried when I wrote it…ya, what a sap I am!! I really wanted it to be realistic. Also the chapter when Maggie is in the trailer after that hospital scene. I wanted to get across why Maggie was the way she was, what her thought process was, her way of thinking.
<
Q: What is your work schedule like when writing?
A: I try to write every day. Some days I get a lot done, some days, not so much. I have to work around my kids and their schedule and writing gets pushed to the back:{

I go over what I write in my head at night while I lay in bed…or is it lie in bed?? Anyway, I try and come up with a better way to word what I have written or maybe add some fun things to it… I don't sleep much when I'm writing.
<
Q: Can you tell us about any of your upcoming books?
A:
I want to finish the next two books in the series about Cole and Booker first. They are both outlined, and Cole's is written, but I want to change some things. Booker's story is about third written. Then I want to finish the Fantasy novel I started before UNLOVABLE. I am also working on a Peter Pan/Tinker Bell type romance novel that is pure fun!
<
Q: Where can readers purchase your books?
A: Ebook: Amazon UK Amazon.com and Barnes & NobleIf you don't have an e-reader, you can get a FREE app for your computer at both these web sites. The paperback version is at Amazon.com too, and it will be at BarnesandNoble.com soon. It is a little expensive, $12.99 (American) I had nothing to do with the price. I have to charge so much or I'll have to PAY Amazon for every book I sell. Weird.
<
Three Random Questions!
Q:  If you couldn't be an author, what would your career be and why?
A:
A mom! I love being a mom. It is the most rewarding and frustrating job on earth, and I wouldn't trade it for anything. If I couldn't be a mom, then a nurse or an Interior Decorator…or maybe an Interior Decorating nurse!
<
Q: What books are reading right now?
A:
 I am rereading Midnight Sun by Stephenie Meyer. Man, I wish she would finish writing it :'{
<
Q: What's your favourite food?
A: ANYTHING Mexican!! We live in Upstate NY where your choice of restaurants are: Italian, Steak houses, or Italian! As a former California girl, I MISS my Mexican food!!
<

Unlovable by Sherry Gammon: Seventeen year-old Maggie Brown is truly the poster child for Heroin Chic, complete with her jutting bones and her dark-ringed eyes. She’s struggling with her growing feelings for the new guy at school, Seth Prescott, and fears he is just another person who will let her down, like everyone in her life has done thus far.

Seth Prescott is an undercover cop assigned to Port Fare High, and despite his job, he’s developed strong feelings for Maggie. Seth’s working tirelessly to flush out the sadistic heroin peddlers that have invaded the small town of Port Fare, New York, while Maggie fights to stay alive as the search turns deadly. Seth and Maggie’s romantic journey is one of humor, heartbreak and self-discovery as their world is about to change forever.

Great interview! I love the fact that Sherry wrote how she thought Harry Potter should have ended. I know how frustrating character deaths are. :)

Anyway, Unlovable sounds really awesome. :D
