The Blurb from Goodreads: Laying hands upon the injured and dying, Avry of Kazan assumes their wounds and diseases into herself. But rather than being honored for her skills, she is hunted. Healers like Avry are accused of spreading the plague that has decimated the Territories, leaving the survivors in a state of chaos.Stressed and tired from hiding, Avry is abducted by a band of rogues who, shockingly, value her gift above the golden bounty offered for her capture. Their leader, an enigmatic captor-protector with powers of his own, is unequivocal in his demands: Avry must heal a plague-stricken prince—leader of a campaign against her people. As they traverse the daunting Nine Mountains, beset by mercenaries and magical dangers, Avry must decide who is worth healing and what is worth dying for. Because the price of peace may well be her life....

The Review "I don't want to be your friend, Avry." Kerrick stroked my cheek, then leaned in and kissed me.

I'm ashamed to admit that I have NEVER read any of Maria V.Snyder's work before and I'm seriously kicking myself because Touch of Power proves that this author has a talent for creating magical and spell-binding stories that will captivate you from start to end and honestly just want more!

Fantasy novels usually aren't my first choice when I read a book but Touch of Power sounded so good, I knew I had to try it. And I'm so pleased but I was really surprised by how much I enjoyed it. The world that Maria has created it very imaginable, easy to follow and so engrossing  that you can't help but love it.

Characters like Avry, Belen, Loren and of course, Kerrick are one of the main reasons I love reading. I fell in love with all these characters and days after finishing this book I'm still thinking about them. Their all loveable, protective and loyal and they all bring a certain quality to the story. I loved watching their relationships develop and became such a close family but I have to say, I did have my doubts about Kerrick to start with. He was so mean but as the novel goes on, it's impossible to hate him - even though Avry thinks she does. You can see what's truly happening and even though he's trying to stay loyal to his King, he can't help love Avry and she can't help but love him. I loved it!

The story itself had so many exciting twists and turns with sacrifices and betrayals. It was filled with happy moments and sad moments and I can not wait to continue on with Avry and the guys journey. I'm so pleased this isn't a stand alone book because it was pure awesomeness! Maria V Snyder has me convinced....I need to read more of work SOON!

Author Bio: Maria V. Snyder is the acclaimed author of the Yelena Zaltana Study trilogy:Poison Study, Magic Study and Fire Study. Maria changed from being a meteorologist to a novelist in 1995, when she began writing to keep her sanity while raising two children. Since then, she has published numerous freelance articles in magazines and newspapers, and teaches fiction-writing classes at the local college and area libraries.

1.       How did you come up with the concept ‘The Healers’ for Touch of Power?
I had this vague idea about a healer or an apprentice healer during an epidemic.  She was either going to be sought after for her powers – like everyone wanting her, or be hunted.  I wasn’t sure.  Then one night my daughter couldn’t sleep and she wanted me to tell her a story.  She knew all my other books, so I started telling her about this healer.  And every night, she’d ask, “What’s next?”  That’s why Touch of Power is dedicated to my daughter.

2.       How long did it take you to write the book?
        About six months, including revisions.

3.       What was the most challenging thing for you when writing this book?
The most challenging aspect were the rumors about the plague.  I needed there to be a misunderstanding between Kerrick and Avry about the plague, and it was hard to keep it going and make it logical at the same time.  I'm a stickler for logic!

4.       Who is your favourite character from the book?
Belen.  He's the protective Poppa Bear – concerned for his cubs and can tear someone's arms off  when protecting them.

5.       Out of all your books you’ve wrote, which is your favourite?
That is like asking a mother who her favourite child is!  I love all my books for different reasons.  However, Poison Study will always hold a special place in my heart since it was the first (shhh... don't tell my other books!).

Thanks so much for joining us today Maria!
